Being a Korean-Canadian living in Canada has deeply influenced my creative research. I focus on exploring non-binary processes and methods that can depict the complexity of the lives of the marginalized and racialized. The visual representation of persons of colour often relies on stereotypical and one-dimensional portrayals. Instead, I seek more comprehensive and diverse ways to demonstrate the intricate lives of marginalized and racialized communities.

My research takes various forms, including writing, video, installation, and performance. I emphasize the invisible aspects, such as personal everyday stories and habits, as a vital tool in my work. The images I portray are often duplicated, erased, masked, and performed to manifest the complex nature of interconnectivity between the visibility and invisibility of ethnic representation. To re-establish a more organic and unexpected exchange between the artwork/artist and the viewer, I value dialogue, performative (small) acts, and unconventional presentation methods and venues.
